One-on-One
Yoga Therapy

I help individuals find freedom from physical pain and overcome mental health conditions through the practice of yoga and mindfulness within a therapeutic setting. As a former collegiate athlete, I specialize in working with clients who are experiencing chronic pain, recovering from injury, struggling with anxiety or depression and looking to build physical strength and mental fortitude. I also help high performers improve their ability to self-regulate, find mental-emotional balance and live more meaningful lives.

“Yoga is a technology to engineer your inner world, to change your relationship to pain and hardship, and more easily embrace the opportunity for growth and enhanced well-being in body, feelings, thought and spirit.”

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is a holistic healing art that applies the age-old teachings and wisdom of yoga - meditation, physical postures, breath work, spiritual insights - to promote wellness, mental clarity and better physical health. Benefits include increase in self-regulation and mood control, reduced anxiety and depression, and improved quality of life with stronger relationships and a greater sense of purpose.

It’s a dynamic approach to healing that views the human body as a multi-dimensional system. Like physical therapy addresses the physical body and psychotherapists address the mind, yoga therapy interweaves the two together. Yoga therapy can connect us to our higher power and purpose, while bringing more joy, less pain and a greater capacity to handle life’s stressors with ease.

Who is it for?

Yoga therapy is for any individual facing a health challenge at any level to manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. This form of therapy is particularly appropriate for many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment. As a yoga therapist, I specialize in working with individuals experiencing:

  • Chronic physical pain or illness

  • Recovering from injury or surgery

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Burn out and stress

How it works?

Whether the issue is functional and posture-oriented, physiological or emotional, or a combination of several, together we will look at systemic imbalances in the body and work to bring you back to a state of balance as a whole.

We will dive deep into the following and create a personalized practice plan centered around healing:

  • Posture

  • Breathing patterns

  • Areas of chronic pain

  • Lifestyle and eating habits

  • Emotion and mood regulation

You will walk away from our session with a specific take home practice; feeling inspired and energized with a renewed capacity to meet your wellness goals.

MORE ON A
PERSONAL NOTE...

I have been practicing and teaching yoga for over a decade. I am registered at the highest level as certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT® 500) and as a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACEP®). I am also a nationally certified Health Coach.

I am a lover of movement and the outdoors; happiest when I’m hiking or lounging in a hammock under the trees. When I’m not teaching, coaching or practicing yoga, you can find me playing with my Bernedoodle pup, ‘Cuisy, or reading a good fantasy book.
